For many years I used an old glass bottle of Hoppe’s 9 for cleaning and lubrication my firearms. Even after Hoppe’s began using a plastic bottle I would refill my old brown glass bottle with the new stuff. Until one day at the range, I knocked the full bottle off the bench. A lot happened that day. At first, I was mad then embarrassed by the stupidy, I had just lost my gun cleaner, I also lost my favorite bottle, $10.00 was spilled all over the ground, I had to clean it up and then I had to replace my Hoppe’s 9 at another $10.00 or a total of $20.00 or maybe more now. “NOT THE BEST MENTAL SITUATION YOU WANT TO BE IN DURING A MATCH”.
Realizing my options were few; it occurred to me that the old glass bottle took up a lot of space and I always had to be careful with it. So the solution was simple, I found a medical bottle with an eyedropper. It was perfect, It could dispense the right amount and took up only a little space. It also looked a lot like my old bottle of Hoppe’s. I could have chosen plastic, but plastic just doesn’t have the feel or quality looks of this little amber-brown bottle. The eyedropper stem is also glass and it is not affected by any solvent. Besides MTC doesn’t use plastics for anything.
Several times I dropped it, but because of it’s lightweight it hasn’t broken yet, but if it does, the loss is far less than before, only 1.7oz. (50ml). Just for security (leakage), I always place the bottle upright and when traveling I keep it in a zip-lock bag. I haven’t had any problems as of yet, but perhaps some chemicals could attack the bulb on top of the eyedropper. The internal eye dropper stem is glass and is not affected by any chemical. Save a little money and purchase the larger container of whatever you use and fill up the little bottle.
The bottle is not available separately, it is provided only as our appreciation for purchasing an MTC Tracker. Plus it’s a great idea.
This little brown-amber bottle has served me for many years and is included with the purchase of any MTC Trackers.
